House on a lake

Master bath -- his

The bathroom that was to be converted into a master bath for the husband was very small, crowded with a closed-in shower, and in bad condition. Everything was ripped out, including the wallboard, and tile was applied to all surfaces. By combining plain white ceramic tile with accents of glass tile a sophisticated effect was achieved at limited cost. A glass enclosure made the shower and bathroom seem much larger and brighter. An integrated heater-ventilator-light unit in the ceiling keeps the room comfortable and dry, summer and winter. And a skylight brightens it a great deal during the day.

The small space was enlarged visually by avoiding crowding and clutter. The toilet and basin are compact, clean in design, and blend in with the tile walls and floor.

In a complex installation such as this it is essential to work closely with the tile-layers to achieve the best results, no matter how skillful they may be.
